Preparing
the Surface :: Prior
to painting or faux finishing, make sure that the surface is clean
of any contaminants such as grease, wax, dirt or any other material
that would affect the adherence of paint to the surface. If peeling
paint, holes or cracks exist on the surface, they should be repaired
with spackle. Primer should then be applied on all patches. If wallpaper
has been removed, make sure that any paste residue is entirely cleaned
from the surface. Follow by applying a coat of primer to the surface.
New dry wall or plaster should have a coat of primer applied to seal
the surface.

Preparing the Room :: Apply
high quality 2" beige masking tape to protect areas such as woodwork,
ceiling, and any other areas that directly connect to the painting surface.
You should do a test area prior to the application of the masking tape
to ensure that it does not affect the areas that it is applied to. We
do not recommend the use of low adhesion or blue tape for this application
unless it is necessary. Low adhesion masking tape can allow the paint
to "seep" under the edges more easily than high adhesion tape.

Preparing the Tools :: The
Woolie and The Little Woolie
Prior to first use, remove all lint
with masking tape. You will never need to do this again. Rinse The Woolie
under water, squeeze excess water with hands and blot dry with a towel
before you begin your painting project. You will not need to rinse it
again until your room is complete.

Marbling Tip :: It
is important to have a jagged appearance, so if you are right handed,
use your left hand; if you are left handed use your right. Marbling
is a fun technique, but remember, keep the veins sparse.

Cleaning the Tools :: To
clean The Woolie, simply rinse in warm water, blot dry, and fluff up.
Do not use soap or any harsh chemicals when cleaning, as this will remove
the lanolin from the natural sheepskin. Since the edges of The Woolie
are not used as much as the flat surface, paint on the edge of the tool
tends to dry. To avoid this, we recommend using 1 TBSP of Murphy's Oil
Soap to 1 quart of water in a spray bottle to lightly mist the edges.
This will not interfere with the paint.
